The U.S. president claimed yesterday that Iran has “just now” informed the United States that it is in a “state of collapse.”
He said Iranian officials have requested that the United States quickly reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Donald Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth Social: “They want us to ‘Open the Hormuz Strait,’ as soon as possible, as they try to figure out their leadership situation (Which I believe they will be able to do!).”
Trump did not provide further details, and Iranian officials have not yet commented on his claims.
According to reports, in recent days the Islamic Republic of Iran has submitted a new proposal to the United States via Pakistan, which Donald Trump is said to be unhappy with.
Iran’s foreign minister said on Monday in Russia that the United States has failed to achieve its objectives in the war and has requested negotiations, which Tehran is currently reviewing.
