Yair Lapid, Israel’s opposition leader, warned in a statement that the Iranian government should closely monitor developments in Venezuela.
After weeks of threats, the United States attacked Venezuela, and U.S. officials announced that President Nicolás Maduro had been detained.
Israel and the United States, which had attacked Iran in June 2025, are supporting the country’s ongoing protests. Former President Donald Trump has warned that if violence is used against “peaceful” protesters, the United States would intervene to “rescue” them.
Trump has repeatedly cautioned that if Iran pursues the revival of its nuclear capabilities, the United States would strike the country again.
Israel has also issued multiple public calls urging the Iranian people to take to the streets in protest, assuring them of Tel Aviv’s support.
Developments in Venezuela
Donald Trump announced that the United States had “detained” Venezuela’s president and his wife during an attack on the country, and transferred them out of Venezuela.
The U.S. Departments of State and Justice had previously offered a reward for Maduro’s arrest on charges of violating U.S. drug laws.
U.S. Senator Mark Lee, citing Secretary of State Marco Rubio on his X page, confirmed that Maduro has been arrested and is to be tried in the United States.
The Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the operation, calling the justifications offered “unacceptable.” Moscow urged efforts to avoid escalating tensions and stressed the importance of seeking solutions through dialogue, noting that it is ready to support such efforts.
Russia added that Venezuela’s right to self-determination must be guaranteed without any foreign interference.
