The Saudi-led coalition struck the port of Al Mukalla in Yemen to target weapons that had been unloaded there.

Turki al-Maliki, spokesperson for the coalition, said that two ships on Saturday and Sunday entered the port of Al Mukalla without authorization, disabled their tracking systems, and unloaded large quantities of weapons and military vehicles.

He emphasized that the arms were transported to support the Southern Transitional Council, which is backed by the United Arab Emirates.

Rashad al-Alimi, chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Council, called on UAE forces to leave Yemeni territory within 24 hours following the attack. Saudi Arabia expressed support for this decision.

Two sources told Reuters that the strike specifically targeted the dock where the shipments had been unloaded.

The Saudi-led coalition stated that no casualties or collateral damage occurred during the operation and stressed that it was conducted in accordance with international law.

The Southern Transitional Council was initially part of the Saudi-led coalition but later sought autonomy in southern Yemen.
