The German tabloid Bild reported that in 2025, 212 Afghan nationals obtained German visas through deception.

According to the report, the individuals obtained the visas by submitting false information and misleading justifications. It notes that the number of fraudulent visa cases involving Germany reached 5,569 in 2025, compared with 5,578 cases the previous year.

By contrast, the figure was significantly lower in 2022, when authorities recorded 2,596 cases.

This year, 634 applicants from Turkey, 526 from Azerbaijan, 462 from Iran and 275 from Syria obtained German visas through similar means.

The report comes as Germany has introduced stricter rules governing the entry of migrants.

The country has also denied visas to some Afghan nationals who had already received official letters of admission. About 650 Afghan asylum seekers who had waited for months under difficult conditions in Pakistan were informed that there was no longer any “political interest” in admitting them.
