Tasnim News Agency reported on Saturday that the Iranian government has not yet agreed to hold a second round of talks with the United States.
According to the report, the reasons include the naval blockade of Iranian ports as well as what it described as “U.S. excessive demands in negotiations, which also continued in recent exchanges.”
The report added that Iran has stressed that the absence of “excessive demands” by the U.S. is a key condition for continuing talks; otherwise, Iran is not willing to engage in what it calls “time-wasting, prolonged, and futile negotiations.”
Tasnim said this position was conveyed to U.S. officials through Pakistan.
CNN reported earlier, citing an Iranian official, that talks between the two countries are scheduled to take place on Monday in Pakistan.
U.S. President Donald Trump also said that the talks will be held over the “weekend.”
