Trump Says Good News on Iran

Donald Trump, the U.S. president, said hours ago that he has good news regarding Iran, adding that if no agreement is reached by Wednesday, the ceasefire with Tehran may not be extended.

He said that “it seems to be going very well in the Middle East with Iran” and stressed that talks between Tehran and Washington are expected to take place over the weekend.

CNN also reported that Iran–U.S. negotiations will resume on Monday in Pakistan.

Trump added that many issues have already been discussed and agreed upon. He said: “The most important issue is that Iran does not have nuclear weapons. Iran cannot be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons, and this takes priority over everything else.”

He said the United States will continue its blockade of Iranian ports.

The war involving the United States and Israel against Iran, which began on Feb. 27, 2026, has left thousands dead across several countries.

The conflict has effectively led to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz—through which around 20% of the world’s oil previously passed—resulting in a sharp rise in global oil prices.

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, speaker of Iran’s parliament, said that if the U.S. blockade continues, “the Strait of Hormuz will not remain open.”

The U.S. president said the country will remove Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles, while Iran’s Foreign Ministry has said the material will not be transferred anywhere.
