Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey’s president, accused Israel yesterday of committing “crimes” against Palestinians and Lebanon and warned that military action against the country could be possible.

He said: “We must be strong so that Israel cannot do these things to Palestine. Just as we entered Karabakh, just as we entered Libya, we will do the same to them. There is no obstacle before us. We just need to be strong to take these steps.”

Speaking at the International Conference of Asian Political Parties in Istanbul, Erdogan said: “This network of bloody genocide continues to kill innocent children, women, and civilians without any law or principles, ignoring all human values.”

He added that Israel had caused 1.2 million Lebanese to leave their homes.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wrote on his X account on Saturday: “Israel under my leadership will continue to fight Iran’s terror regime and its proxies, unlike Erdogan who accommodates them and massacred his own Kurdish citizens.”

The Turkish Foreign Ministry strongly condemned Netanyahu’s remarks about Erdogan, saying: “Netanyahu, who is called the Adolf Hitler of this era due to his crimes, is known for his records.”

Turkish officials have repeatedly accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza.
