Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, warned that following an attack on President Vladimir Putin’s residence, Volodymyr Zelensky will be forced to live in hiding for the rest of his life.
He accused the Ukrainian president of seeking war and attempting to derail the peace process.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told reporters that on the nights of December 29, Ukraine attacked President Putin’s residence in the Novgorod region, deploying 91 unmanned drones. According to Lavrov, all drones were intercepted by Russia’s air defense systems, and no casualties were reported.
Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said that Putin, in a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, emphasized that the attack occurred “immediately after” U.S.-Ukraine talks in Florida. Ushakov added that Putin warned the action would not go unanswered.
Trump told reporters that he was “angry” about the attack and added that such actions would not help facilitate peace talks.
Ushakov further stated that Putin informed his American counterpart that Russia would review its position in the peace negotiations following the incident.
Ukraine has denied Russia’s claim of an attack on Putin’s residence and accused Moscow of attempting to undermine the peace talks.
Russia has not provided evidence to support its claims.
