The Taliban said that the Pakistani government deported 2,754 Afghan migrants yesterday (Wednesday, April 8).

According to the Taliban’s High Commission for Addressing Migrants’ Affairs, 2,509 of them returned via the Torkham crossing, while the rest entered through the Spin Buldak crossing.

The Torkham crossing, through which most Afghan migrants enter the country, has been repeatedly closed to them in recent months.

Most recently, the crossing was reopened on March 31.

Since September 2023, Iran and Pakistan have deported around 5 million Afghan migrants.
