Sources told Deeyar TV that the Pakistani government, a few hours ago, transferred a number of Afghan migrants living in Islamabad to a camp designated for deportation.
According to the sources, these individuals were detained from “Argentina Park,” where they had been forced to stay after being evicted from residential homes.
Most of these migrants are civil society activists, former employees of the Afghan government, and staff members of international organizations.
One source told Deeyar TV: “The Pakistani police arrested us brutally. During the arrest, they beat everyone — women, children, and men.” They have been moved to a camp called “Haji Camp.”
The migrants have been told that they will be deported to Afghanistan — a place most of them had previously left due to fear of Taliban reprisals.
Despite calls from international organizations and Afghan activists, Pakistan has not halted the deportation process of Afghan migrants. The country is even deporting individuals whose lives would be in serious danger upon returning to Afghanistan.
On July 22, UNAMA and the UN Human Rights Office jointly released a report stating that the Taliban have detained and tortured several individuals who were forcibly returned to the country.
Those interviewed for the report said that after returning to Afghanistan, they were forced to live in hiding out of fear of “reprisal.”
