The European Union delegation to the United Nations in Geneva said in a statement that its head met with former Afghan parliament member Fawzia Koofi.
According to the statement, the European Union will continue its support for Afghan women and their efforts to access justice and accountability.
The statement added that the EU will continue to amplify the voices of Afghan women.
Koofi, who served as deputy speaker of the Afghan parliament during the republic era, has been living abroad since the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan.
She is a women’s rights activist and regularly participates in international meetings on Afghanistan, particularly on the country’s human rights situation.
Koofi has called for the formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan that respects the rights of all citizens.
The European Union maintains a presence in Afghanistan and is active in humanitarian and political affairs.
The bloc has repeatedly condemned human rights violations by the Taliban and called for the reopening of schools and universities for women and girls.
