Britain’s Foreign Office updated its sanctions list of Taliban officials on Wednesday, with 17 changes made in the new version.
None of the Taliban officials were removed from the list, and the changes include details such as height, passport expiry dates, and methods of accessing photographs.
Seventeen individuals from Afghanistan remain on Britain’s sanctions list, nearly all of them members of the Taliban.
The individuals include senior Taliban officials such as Sirajuddin Haqqani, Abdul Kabir, Khairullah Khairkhwa, Abdul Haq Wasiq, Abdul Salam Hanafi, Din Mohammad Hanif, Najibullah Haqqani, and Abdul Latif Mansoor.
Britain’s Foreign Office has instructed individuals and institutions to freeze any assets belonging to sanctioned Taliban officials if they possess or control them.
The ministry stressed that violating British financial sanctions or attempting to circumvent them could constitute a criminal offense.
