Radio Pakistan, citing security sources, reported that the Pakistani army yesterday targeted and “destroyed” Taliban positions near Chaman along the Durand Line in response to what it described as “unprovoked aggression” by the Afghan Taliban and the TTP.
According to the report, Taliban and TTP forces were forced to retreat following the Pakistani military strikes.
The report added that Pakistan also destroyed several Taliban vehicles.
Sources told Radio Pakistan that operations inside Afghanistan will continue until all objectives of “Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq” are achieved.
The Taliban have not yet commented on the matter.
In recent days, clashes between the Taliban and Pakistan have intensified after a pause of several days, with the Taliban accusing Islamabad of attacking Kunar.
According to Taliban officials, at least seven people were killed and around 80 others wounded in the attack on Kunar. The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), without naming Pakistan, confirmed that dozens were killed and injured in the strike on Asadabad.
Following the attack, the Taliban’s Foreign Ministry summoned Pakistan’s chargé d’affaires in Kabul and handed over a formal protest note.
