The Jamiat-e Islami Party of Afghanistan, led by Salahuddin Rabbani, said on the occasion of 8th of Saur (28 April) that the “enemies of Afghanistan’s progress and development” did not allow the jihad of the Afghan people to fully achieve its goals.
It said these goals included the rule of law, a government based on the will of the people, social justice, prosperity, cultural development, and raising political awareness in society.
In a statement released yesterday, the Rabbani-led Jamiat party said it believes that any domestic or foreign group that ignores the will and dignity of the people and adopts a “condescending approach” toward them will ultimately face a “bitter and instructive fate.”
The statement added that the jihad of the Afghan people created political “awakening” and made people aware of the importance of equal and meaningful participation in power and political decision-making.
The “Nur” faction of Jamiat-e Islami said that the Afghan people’s awareness against oppression, disrespect for cultural, national, and social values, as well as political monopolization, remains strong.
The statement emphasized that the “regrettable situation in Afghanistan” requires that the “path toward achieving the goals of the freedom struggle and the jihad of the Afghan people be pursued with strength.”
Yesterday marked the 8th of Saur (28 April), the 34th anniversary of the Mujahideen’s victory. Mujahideen groups fought for more than a decade against the then-government of Afghanistan and Soviet forces, eventually capturing Kabul on (April 28, 1992), after the fall of Najibullah’s government.
