Local Taliban authorities said that four members of a family were killed in a violent incident last night in the village of Hesarak, in the central district of Logar province.
The Taliban governor’s office in Logar said in a statement that the victims included the father, mother, and two sons.
According to the statement, the motive behind the killings remains unclear, but “serious” investigations are underway to identify and arrest those responsible.
Abdul Mateen Qani, spokesperson for the Taliban Ministry of Interior, said yesterday that the group has always emphasized nationwide security and claimed that Afghanistan is “on the path toward strengthening stability and lasting security.”
The Taliban have consistently claimed to provide security in Afghanistan, while the security situation has been increasingly deteriorating under their rule.
Recently, unidentified armed men killed at least 11 people and wounded several others in the Injil district of Herat province.
