Local Taliban officials said yesterday (22 April) that four people were killed in an avalanche on the road to Kuf Ab district in Badakhshan province.
The Taliban police command in Badakhshan said in a statement that the victims were residents of “Chashm Dara” village in Kuf Ab district and were traveling to Raghistan district for work.
The statement added that the incident occurred three days ago, and the bodies of the victims were recovered from under the snow today and handed over to their families.
Badakhshan is one of Afghanistan’s remote provinces, with most of its areas lacking standard transportation infrastructure.
Travel between districts in Badakhshan is difficult.
