Rustam Khabibullin, head of Russia’s Trade Center in Afghanistan, told the RIA Novosti news agency that the Taliban will attend the Kazan Economic Forum this year and sign several agreements with Russia.
He said two agreements relate to Afghanistan’s purchase of Russian petroleum products and agricultural goods, while another concerns investment by a Russian construction company in Afghanistan’s infrastructure development.
The 17th Kazan Economic Forum is scheduled to take place from May 13 to 15 in the city of Kazan, the capital of Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan.
Taliban officials also participated in the previous (16th) edition of the forum.
