Afghanistan’s Taliban Minister of Industry and Commerce, Nooruddin Azizi, participated in a panel at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum alongside Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister.
Although both were part of the same discussion, it remains unclear whether any talks took place between them on the sidelines.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar traveled to Turkiye on Thursday to attend the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
While they held meetings with officials from various countries, including South Korea, Turkiye, Bangladesh, Algeria, Austria, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Qatar, the Taliban’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce only reported that Nooruddin Azizi met with Turkiye’s Trade Minister.
In recent months, tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan have escalated significantly, to the point where relations between the two sides have largely broken down.
Apart from negotiations, there have been no high-level meetings or talks between Taliban and Pakistani officials in recent months.
