Pakistani media reported yesterday, citing security sources, that three civilians were killed in a shooting by Taliban fighters in the Bajaur area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, near Afghanistan’s Kunar province.

According to reports, the victims — a woman and two children — were all members of the same family.

Sources said three others were seriously injured and were taken to hospital for treatment.

The sources claimed the shooting was unprovoked and carried out by “Afghan Taliban forces backed by India.”

They added that the attack followed recent failed attempts by militants to infiltrate Pakistani territory.

According to Pakistani media reports, the attackers targeted civilians after their infiltration attempt failed.

The reports also said that Pakistani forces responded by targeting Taliban positions in Bajaur along the Durand Line, causing “heavy casualties” to the group.

The Taliban has not yet officially commented on the incident.

Clashes between the Taliban and Pakistan continue, although their intensity has decreased in recent days.
