Faisal Karim Kundi, governor of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, claimed that Balochistan and his province face similar challenges, including “terrorism due to their proximity to Afghan border.”
Kundi alleged that Afghan nationals have been involved in several “terrorist” incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He made the remarks yesterday at the 19th National Workshop Balochistan, attended by students, journalists, and political and social activists.
He stressed that “intelligence-based operations are vital for sustainable peace.”
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are Pakistan’s most insecure provinces and have witnessed a rise in security incidents since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan.
The Pakistani government has attributed the increase to the Taliban, claiming the group provides safe havens to militants operating in Pakistan. The Taliban have rejected the allegation and accused Islamabad of failing to control its own security challenges.
