Mohammad Khalid Hanafi told directors and provincial officials of the Taliban’s Ministry Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice that they should not show favoritism within the framework of “principles and laws,” and that laws must be applied equally to everyone.
The Taliban minister for the ministry said in the meeting that laws should even be implemented on Hibatullah Akhundzada, the group’s leader.
Hanafi said: “In an Islamic system, the implementation of Sharia rulings in an equal and non-discriminatory manner on all members of society, from an ordinary person to the Amir al-Mu’minin, is necessary and obligatory.”
Taliban laws are issued by Hibatullah, and the group does not allow anyone to object to them.
Hanafi further said that the proper implementation of what he called “Islamic Sharia rulings,” along with social justice and strengthening of the group’s system, requires commitment, coordination, and collective efforts from officials at the center and in the provinces.
He claimed there is no gap between the people and the Taliban system, adding that addressing public problems is among the responsibilities of his ministry.
Hanafi also said the ministry is responsible for implementing “Islamic Sharia rulings” and for protecting people from “oppression.”
