Taliban local officials in Nangarhar said the roof of a house collapsed in Sherzad district last night following heavy rainfall, killing seven members of a family.
Sediqullah Qureshi, head of information at the Taliban Directorate of Information and Culture in Nangarhar, said women and children were among the victims.
According to Taliban officials, recent rains and floods in Nangarhar have left nearly 100 people dead or injured, also causing heavy financial losses to residents.
Many houses in Afghanistan are made of mud, making them more vulnerable to natural events such as earthquakes and floods.
