Taliban local officials in Nangarhar said 10 people were killed and six others injured after several houses collapsed in the province.

Ehsanullah Osmani, spokesman for the Taliban governor in Nangarhar, told Radio Police, a media outlet affiliated with the group’s Ministry of Interior, that in Pibyanwi village of Sherzad district, one woman and two children were killed.

He added that in Khogyani district, one person was killed and two others injured.

According to Osmani, in Haska Meyna district, the collapse of a house roof killed one child and injured two others.

In the Angurbagh area of Jalalabad city, a house roof also collapsed, killing five people and injuring two others.

Taliban officials said heavy rainfall is currently ongoing in Nangarhar and many houses are at risk of collapsing.

The Taliban-controlled National Disaster Management Authority said yesterday that the death toll from rains, floods, and landslides had reached at least 110 people.

Heavy storms and rainfall began around 13 days ago across Afghanistan and have affected nearly all provinces.

During this period, around 160 people have also been injured, while 947 houses have been completely destroyed and 4,155 others partially damaged.
