Express Tribune reports that a transgender Afghan woman was shot dead in Peshawar after rejecting a friendship proposal.
According to the report, assailants riding a motorcycle opened fire in the Faqeerabad area, shooting the woman, identified as Sara, six to seven times.
Sara was immediately shifted to the intensive care unit of Lady Reading Hospital but could not survive her injuries.
She had lived for several years in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and moved to Peshawar about five to six years ago.
Due to the lack of official documents, her body was not transferred to Afghanistan and was buried under police supervision along with members of the transgender community at Rehman Baba graveyard.
A police officer told Express Tribune: “Preliminary investigations suggest that Sara was killed over refusing friendship. The accused, Adam, had a prior friendship with her, and the incident occurred because she chose not to maintain friendships with anyone else.”
A close relative of the main suspect has been arrested, and police are working to apprehend the primary suspect.
