Ehsanullah Kamgar, spokesperson for the Taliban’s security command in Badakhshan, said that 122 traffic incidents were recorded in the province from March 2025, resulting in 136 deaths and 175 injuries.
According to the reports by two weekly newspapers in Badakhshan, the victims included men, women, and children.
Traffic accidents are among the leading causes of death in Afghanistan, claiming hundreds of lives each year.
Careless driving, issuing driver’s licenses to unqualified individuals, poor road standards, and weak enforcement of traffic regulations are cited as key factors behind such incidents.
