The World Bank said in a recent report that India has become Afghanistan’s largest export destination, accounting for 43.9% of the country’s total exports in the first 11 months of 2025.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s share stood at 23.7%, followed by Uzbekistan at 7.8% and the United Arab Emirates at 6%.
During the same period, Iran was Afghanistan’s largest source of imports, making up 31.1% of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates with 18.1%, China with 8.3%, and Pakistan with 8.1%.
According to the report, Afghanistan’s exports declined in February 2026, while imports increased.
In that month, Afghanistan exported goods worth $124 million (7.953 billion AFN), marking an 8.2% decrease compared to January. The decline was mainly attributed to the closure of border crossings with Pakistan.
Afghanistan’s imports reached $1.1 billion (70.55 billion AFN) in February, representing a 5% increase compared to the previous month.
