British Police Arrest Afghan Man for Attacking Multiple People in Northwest Hospital

Police said the 20-year-old man had arrived at the hospital seeking service, but when his request was denied and he was asked to leave, he became enraged.

British media outlet The Sun quoted Meg Lynch, a nurse injured during the incident, saying she was lucky to have survived.

“I was nearly beaten to death with an iron bar by an unknown man,” Lynch said. “I was standing near the vending machine to get a drink when he attacked me with the bar. After several blows to my head, I managed to escape, hide, and do everything I could to survive.”

Shanmugaraja, a store employee near Newton Hospital, said a wounded woman had entered the shop asking him to call the police.

According to him, 10 to 15 police vehicles arrived at the scene quickly, and nurses entered the store to treat the injured woman.

Hannah West, another witness who observed staff evacuating Newton Hospital, told the BBC, “When I heard the continuous sirens, I looked out the window and saw several victims coming out and a man being placed into a riot control van.”

Negative actions by Afghan migrants harm their own community and can push host governments toward adopting stricter measures against migrants.
