The Taliban Supreme Court announced in a statement this morning that the group’s forces flogged two men and two women in Kabul.
According to the statement, the individuals were sentenced to 25 to 30 lashes and one to two years in prison for engaging in extramarital sexual relations.
The flogging was carried out on Saturday, December 28, after being confirmed by the Taliban Supreme Court.
Television Diyar’s statistics indicate that since April 1, the Taliban have flogged 729 people across Afghanistan.
The group has ignored global reactions to the implementation of corporal punishments and has consistently insisted on enforcing these sentences.
The Taliban consider their rise to power in Afghanistan an opportunity to implement “Sharia rulings.”
