Following recent reforms in the Wahdat-e Islami Party led by Mohammad Mohaqiq, Abdul Rashid Dostum announced that necessary changes have also been carried out within the National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan.
Dostum said the party under his leadership has taken essential steps—carefully and in consideration of current sensitivities—to align itself with present conditions.
He added that the National Islamic Movement has recently reorganized its internal structure and approved a set of urgent and necessary amendments to its charter ahead of the party’s fourth congress.
According to Dostum, these changes have made decision-making easier and enabled the party to continue its work in line with today’s political needs.
He stated that reforms in both parties reflect the “political and intellectual maturity of our community’s leaders and organizers.”
The party leader said he stands in solidarity with the followers of Abdul Ali Mazari and will move forward alongside them.
Dostum ended his message with a verse from the Qur’an, saying that “victory is near.”

Yesterday (Sunday, November 23), the Wahdat-e Islami Party held its second nationwide congress online, with more than 300 members described as “party figures and activists” in attendance.
During the congress, a new party charter “reflecting current domestic, regional, and global conditions” was approved, and changes were made to the leadership council and central council.
