Reza Pahlavi, the former crown prince of Iran, claimed at a conference in Berlin that the Iranian government has brought in more than 5,000 forces from Afghanistan, Iraq, and Lebanon to suppress its population.
He said there are individuals inside Iran who have refused to take part in suppressing people, forcing the government to bring in personnel from abroad to carry out “dirty job.”
Pahlavi and his associates have made similar claims in the past.
Saeed Ghasseminejad, a senior advisor at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies and a figure close to Pahlavi, previously said during protests in Iran that the Fatemiyoun militia, composed of Afghan nationals, cooperated with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard in suppressing demonstrators.
He also reiterated that the Iranian government is weak and has had to “import terrorists from Iraq, Lebanon, and Afghanistan to suppress Iranians.”
In recent days, Reza Pahlavi also stated in a separate statement that the Iranian government uses “terrorists” from Afghanistan.
However, no credible evidence has yet been presented to support these claims.
