Taliban environmental protection officials in Herat said that 12 salt processing and packaging facilities in the province have been sealed.
Abdul Ali Muttaqi, head of the Taliban’s environmental protection authority in Herat, said a delegation composed of several Taliban departments had inspected a number of salt production companies and workshops in the province.
Bakhtar News Agency, quoting Muttaqi, reported that during the inspections, the quality of raw materials, production methods, hygiene standards, packaging, and storage conditions were evaluated.
He added that 12 facilities were sealed for failing to meet health and environmental standards, using substandard processing and packaging methods, and lacking the required licenses.
Muttaqi warned that the Taliban would take “legal action” against centers that fail to comply with required standards.
