Data from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) show that two earthquakes with magnitudes of 5.3 and 4.5 struck parts of Afghanistan early this morning.
The first earthquake occurred at 7:24 a.m. at a depth of 198 kilometers in Jurm district of Badakhshan province, with a magnitude of 5.3.
The second quake hit at 7:46 a.m. at a depth of 186 kilometers in the same district, measuring 4.5 in magnitude.
The two earthquakes were also felt in several other provinces.
No details have yet been released regarding possible damage or casualties from the tremors.
Afghanistan has experienced deadly earthquakes in recent years that have killed thousands of people and affected tens of thousands more.
