The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) said in a statement today that its secretary-general met and held talks with the President of Kyrgyzstan. According to the statement, both sides emphasized the importance of turning Afghanistan into a peaceful and stable country.

Talatbek Masadykov and Sadyr Japarov also stressed that the Taliban are committed to addressing existing challenges and threats in Afghanistan.

The statement added that the CSTO secretary-general also briefed the Kyrgyz president on the implementation of the organization’s “targeted interstate program” aimed at strengthening the shared border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.

The program was approved in 2024 and is expected to be completed in three phases by 2029. It is designed to strengthen the military infrastructure in southern Tajikistan. The “targeted interstate program” was initially scheduled to begin this year.
