The State Security Service of Uzbekistan Chairman Bahodir Kurbanov visited Tajikistan yesterday with a delegation and held talks with Tajik officials on ensuring security along the shared border with Afghanistan.

The state news agency Khovar reported that during the visit, members of the delegation were briefed on specific sections of the border with Afghanistan in Tajikistan’s Khatlon region and the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region.

According to the report, Kurbanov traveled to Tajikistan at the invitation of Saimumin Yatimov, the head of Tajikistan’s State Committee for National Security.

Kurbanov and Tajik officials exchanged views on the current situation and prospects for bilateral relations in combating terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, and transnational organized crime.

Khovar added that the talks also reviewed mechanisms for information sharing and practical cooperation in key areas.

The report stated that the two sides reached “full understanding” and adopted coordinated decisions on implementing agreed objectives.
