The Taliban’s Ministry of Industry and Trade announced that Afghanistan’s trade volume in 2025 reached $13.93 billion (918 billion afghanis).

Akundzada Abdulsalam Jawad, spokesperson for the Taliban’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, said that Afghanistan’s exports in 2025 amounted to $1.807 billion (119 billion afghanis) while imports reached $12.125 billion (799 billion afghanis).

He noted that both exports and imports increased compared to 2024, despite various challenges.

According to Jawad, Afghanistan’s main export destinations last year were India, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, the United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, Iran, Turkey, China, Iraq, and Tajikistan.

Key exports included figs, raisins, henna and its seeds, coal, cotton, khat, pistachios, almonds, saffron, dried apricots, cumin, apples, grapes, tomatoes, mung beans, energy drinks, minerals, carpets and rugs, pine nuts, and pomegranates.

The majority of Afghanistan’s imports came from Iran, the UAE, Pakistan, China, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, and India.

Major imported items included vehicle parts and machinery, diesel and petrol, wheat flour, electrical machinery and components, natural gas, cotton textiles, vegetable oils, black cement, medicinal spices, rice, sugar, dairy products and eggs, cigarettes, raw industrial materials, tires and tubes, and new clothing.
