The Taliban’s Ministry of Transport and Aviation announced that the group has reached an agreement with Oman to launch direct flights between Kabul and Muscat.
The Taliban described the move as a significant step toward expanding aviation ties between Afghanistan and Oman.
According to the statement, Oman’s transport minister assured that cooperation in ground transport would also be strengthened, further enhancing transport relations between the two countries.
Hamidullah Akhundzada, Afghanistan’s Taliban-appointed minister of transport and aviation, traveled to Oman, where he met with Said bin Hamoud al-Maawali, Oman’s transport minister, and Naif bin Ali al-Amri, head of the country’s civil aviation authority.
During the visit, the Taliban minister discussed expanding transport relations, strengthening bilateral cooperation, and other relevant issues with his Omani counterpart.
Akhundzada also met with the head of Oman’s civil aviation authority to discuss air traffic services, cargo transport, and bilateral cooperation in air corridors, as well as measures to enhance the capacity of Afghan aviation professionals.
