Randhir Jaiswal, the spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, announced that the country has sent an aid shipment to Kabul to support Afghanistan’s health sector.

According to him, the shipment includes 63,734 doses of influenza and meningitis vaccines and shows that India is committed to supporting Afghanistan’s health sector.

This is India’s second aid shipment to Afghanistan since the Taliban issued an order on November 12th to cut trade ties with Pakistan.

On November 28th, India sent 73 tons of essential medicines, vaccines, and supplements to Kabul to address urgent health needs.

New Delhi had previously emphasized that it established relations with the Taliban due to its ‘assistance to the people of Afghanistan.

According to experts, the timing of India’s medical aid shipment to Afghanistan, at a time when tensions between the Taliban and Islamabad have escalated, suggests that New Delhi is seeking to capitalize on the opportunity.

It is worth noting that on November 19th, a Taliban delegation from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, led by Nooruddin Azizi, had traveled to New Delhi.

This is the second trip by a high-ranking Taliban delegation to India since the group came to power in Afghanistan.
