Mohammad Yousuf Saeedi, spokesperson for the Taliban governor in Herat, said that for the first time, water from the Pashdan Dam in Herat is expected to be released today for the irrigation of agricultural lands.
He did not provide further details on the matter.
The Pashdan Dam is located northeast of Herat city in the Karukh district.
The dam was constructed at a cost of 117 million US dollars (7.578 billion AFN) and has the capacity to generate two megawatts of electricity and irrigate 13,000 hectares of agricultural land.
