U.S. President Donald Trump, in a post on Truth Social, suggested that Venezuela could become the fifty-first state of the United States.

Following Venezuela’s baseball team’s victory over Italy, he said: “Good things are happening to Venezuela lately! I wonder what this magic is all about? STATEHOOD, #51, ANYONE?”

The U.S. president had previously expressed interest in turning Canada into one of the United States’ states, and now appears to be turning his attention to a country whose president the United States had reportedly detained about two months ago.
