{"id":39448,"date":"2026-04-22T08:21:58","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T03:51:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deeyartelevision.com\/en\/?p=39448"},"modified":"2026-04-22T08:21:59","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T03:51:59","slug":"nabil-questions-mohaqiq-over-past-silence-on-durand-line","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deeyartelevision.com\/en\/39448\/","title":{"rendered":"Nabil Questions Mohaqiq Over Past Silence on Durand Line"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Rahmatullah Nabil, former head of Afghanistan\u2019s National Directorate of Security, has again questioned Mohammad Mohaqiq over why he did not take \u201csuch a clear and explicit position\u201d on the Durand Line during the years he held \u201cvarious positions of power.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mohammad Mohaqiq, leader of the People\u2019s Islamic Unity Party of Afghanistan, recently said he recognizes the Durand Line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His remarks have sparked widespread reactions, and he has sought to defend his stance against criticism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some have supported him, arguing that the line was accepted by previous Afghan rulers and accusing the Taliban of politically exploiting the issue, while others say the Durand Line is a \u201cnational\u201d matter that requires broad consensus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In his initial reaction, Nabil said: \u201cRaising such a claim after the public emergence of closer ties with Pakistani military officials and recent correspondence distances it from an independent position and makes it resemble something that smells more like a behind-the-scenes deal than a judgment stemming from an independent political mind.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nabil added that the Durand Line is a sensitive historical issue tied to the collective will of the Afghan people, and that determining its future requires a national, transparent, and consensus-based process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Responding to Nabil, Mohaqiq wrote on his Facebook page: \u201cMr. Nabil and others\u2026 do not shift the burden of your own failures onto the Hazaras. We have not signed any document selling the country\u2019s land, but you have.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In response, Nabil said: \u201cGiven your role and responsibilities in Afghanistan\u2019s political system, we reserve the right to ask: \u2018Why now?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The former national security chief added: \u201cYour recent correspondence is not new to us.
