{"id":38377,"date":"2025-12-26T01:16:08","date_gmt":"2025-12-25T20:46:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deeyartelevision.com\/en\/?p=38377"},"modified":"2025-12-26T01:16:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-25T20:46:09","slug":"turkey-plane-crash-kills-libyas-army-chief-of-staff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deeyartelevision.com\/en\/38377\/","title":{"rendered":"Turkey Plane Crash Kills Libya\u2019s Army Chief of Staff"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Libya\u2019s internationally recognized prime minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, said on Sunday that Mohammed Ali Ahmed al-Haddad, the chief of staff of the government\u2019s army, was killed in an airplane accident a day earlier.<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to him, four other people were also on board the aircraft, which had taken off from Ankara, the Turkish capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ali Yerlikaya, Turkey\u2019s interior minister, said on the social media platform X that the plane departed Ankara for Tripoli at 8:10 p.m. local time and that radio contact was lost at 8:52 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Turkish authorities later located the wreckage of the aircraft on the outskirts of Ankara, he said. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yilmaz Tunc, Turkey\u2019s justice minister, said that an investigation into the incident was underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement, Libya\u2019s internationally recognized government said that the prime minister had ordered the dispatch of an official delegation to Ankara to follow up on the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During his visit to Turkey, Mr. al-Haddad had met with Yasar Guler, Turkey\u2019s defense minister, and Bayraktaroglu, the chief of the Turkish General Staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Libya has remained unstable since the overthrow of Muammar el-Qaddafi in 2011 and is now divided between two rival authorities: the United Nations\u2013recognized Government of National Unity and the Libyan National Army.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The former controls much of western Libya, while the latter holds sway over the eastern and southern parts of the country, including key oil fields.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Libya\u2019s internationally recognized prime minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, said on Sunday that Mohammed Ali Ahmed al-Haddad, the chief of staff of the government\u2019s army, was killed in an airplane accident a day earlier.
